Tomáš Nedělka M.D., Ph.D.
Founder of Autonomic Research Center within the Department of Neurology of Charles University

Born in July 18, 1980 in Strakonice, Southern Bohemia, Czech Republic.

Graduated at Charles University Prague, 1st Faculty of Medicine in 2004.

Main topic of his scientific work was originally autonomic nervous system disorders, he founded the Autonomic Research Center within the Department of Neurology of Charles University, 2nd Medical Faculty, now 1 of 2 centres of its kind within the Czech Republic.

Finished his specialisation in Neurology in 2009 and later on in Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine. Done his Ph.D.  in 2017 with a topic “Recurrence analysis of heart rate variability in early diagnostics of autonomic cardiovascular neuropathy” and started to work as assistant professor in Czech Technical University, Faculty of Biomedical Engineering.

Since 2008, he was attracted by the shockwave technology, first RPW, then focused ESWT, and gained first hands on experience and promising results in variety of musculoskeletal disorders. Loyal to his degree in Neurology, he started to use the method in more or less experimental indications - low back pain, radiculopathy, peripheral nerves or spasticity.

Member of International Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment (ISMST) since 2012, vice-president of the ISMST 2019-2021, ISMST congress president 2022. Member of Czech Athletic Federation medical team, Czech Neurological Society and European Academy of Neurology.

Author of more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. Invited speaker to many conferences all over the world. ISMST Certified Instructional Course instructor.

Except his university career, he continues to work as a specialist in Neurology, Rehabilitation and Sports medicine in a private rehabilitation center, together with founder and father Jiří.

Wilderness and tactical medicine enthusiast, instructor of various SWAT team and SOF units in tactical first aid training. Member of Special Operations Medical Association (SOMA), USA.

He loves to do sports with his growing children, mainly alpine skiing, hiking, mountain and road biking. Plays flutes, bagpipes and other woodwind instruments.
